Check Other.
Randy and I got into an interesting conversation on our last road trip. About growing up in our generation and especially from the Quinlan family. He pointed out that Tony is one of the most reasonable Quinlan’s yet, he still checks “other” when his boss wants to know where he was going on a workday. His choices were:
1) Sick
2)Doctors appointment
Tony who has lots of reasons to miss work two years ago with very sick, brothers.
But he just checked “ other”
That is one of the Quinlan thread that connects us all together. We were raised with Hope and Bill where our notes sent to our teachers in school said stuff like:
1) She was needed at home
2) He had to sharpen an axe
3) Because I said so
So now later in life, Tony who is an actual teacher “ checks other”
It is funny how we go through life and no matter what we felt as a kid, and how embarrassed we were with the notes we carried to school. We repeat:
Later Tony got upset with is boss, he never told the Principle why he was upset, he just grew a beard.
It is the Quinlan way to not be beholden to the “ Authorities at large” It makes me smile .
Sometimes other says it all. Now that I'm retired, I have a lot of other days.

ReplyDeleteAt my job, I have annual leave and sick leave, which you're allowed to use to care for others. I've expanded my personal definition of "sick" to include hangovers and cat care - it's all in the interpretation.
ReplyDeleteAunt Erin - I'm on my PC laptop (instead of my imac), and with this, there are definitely symbols on your entry instead of letters. Was this maybe written somewhere else, then copied/pasted?

ReplyDeleteYes, I wrote it on the word program for spell check.. I guess, I can't do that huh? but I am so concerned that I can't spell well.. is there a spell check on the blog?
After discussing this with the technical co-expert, Tony & I think you have two options in order to use spell check.
ReplyDelete1. When you copy what you've written and are ready to post, click the tab that says "Edit HTML" instead of "compose".
2. Tony says there IS a spell check in blogger.
We'll put our heads together and show you both ways. Symbols, bah - minor detail - and they look a little like cuniform hieroglyphics.
Mike Q calls it a "chip" on the Quinlan shoulder. In computer language, it is a different chip in our central processing!
